Getting Started with Your Sunrun System
congratulations now that you have a Sunrun system on your roof it's time to get it up and running at this point the system has been completely installed the utility company has installed a net meter and granted you permission to turn it on your system must be on in order for it to begin producing electricity and you're probably wondering how do I make that happen it's as easy as one two three
Step 1: Activate the Solar Breaker
step one make sure it's light outside and head over to the electrical service panel usually found on the side of your house this could also be located in your basement or garage the electrical service panel is your home's connection point for power sources like the utility Grid or solar breakers for your home's electrical circuits also live here open the cover of the service panel and look for a breaker labeled solar or PV if it's not already in the on position flip the breaker all the way to the off position and then back to the on position
if you have more than one electrical panel the solar breaker may be on either panel check for any other disconnects labeled AC or PV disconnect you will need to make sure that all handles are in the on position
Activating Your Inverter and Monitoring Production
Step 2: Check the Inverter
Step 2 check the inverter often located next to the electrical service panel on the side of your house or in the basement or garage some systems don't have one Central inverter but instead have mini inverters located on your roof if that's the case you're already done if not make sure the central inverter disconnect is in the on position
inverters can look different but you can expect to find one that looks like this or maybe one of these for this inverter which happens to be just a little bit different you must also turn on the switch located on the underside of the top half of the inverter
Step 3: Verify System Operation
step three once you're done look for a green light that signals the system is operating it can take up to five minutes for the inverter to turn on and sync with the Grid it's normal for lights and messages to appear during startup
welcome to beautiful clean power from the Sun with Sunrun it usually takes one to two days for production to begin showing online but you can monitor your solar production every step of the way with my Sunrun give us a call or visit sunrun.com for a solar quote today
